Canyoneering in Badian is one of the most thrill and extremely fun adventure in Cebu. It is now one of Cebu’s biggest tourist draws. And for the second time around, my adventurous spirit took another challenge of trekking, jumping and swimming.
It was 2 years ago when I tried these exciting adventure in Cebu. There were no other words that uttered from my lips but “it was the best!” Really, canyoneering was one of the best adventure Iv’e experienced. T’was challenging and fun at the same time.
Over the weekend, I had another chance to jump into the canyons with Millie and Mae Ann. They flew from Manila just to try the extreme adventure in Kawasan, Cebu.
It was raining cats and dogs when we arrived Kawasan, Cebu but we are still fearless to face the challenge and I am a bit edgy though it’s not my first time. Because during my first Canyoneering we had our first jump-off in Kanlaob River Brgy. Compostela, Alegria. But this time our jump-off will be at Badian.
We arrived about 12:30 in the afternoon at the Kawasan Canyoneering headquarters .Upon arrival, we were advised to register our names individually at the waiver form provided by the management for monitoring purposes. In the headquarters we had our donning of life vest and helmet. After recording all of our names then our assigned guide was introduced to us who’s name is Bernard. He is fun and nice to be with. Then hired a habal-habal with tandem and drove us through the Kawasan Tourism Office.
Before we started our 30 minutes trek, we saw a small store and ordered banana-cue (10 Php / stick), and a little refreshments. Then we endure 30 minutes to 1 hour of trekking. The trail was not easy that time because the man-made ladder was muddy because of the heavy rains and it had a slow-paced walk. Thus, it took us 1 hour of trek before reaching the 1st jump-off.
After sparing for almost 1 hour of trekking a short briefing was conducted by our guide about “What to Do” and “What’s Not” for the entire canyoning activity. We were also advised the proper body/hand posistioning when jumping off the cliff.
I couldnt imagine the feelings of Millie and Mae Ann the fact that this is their first time.I can see the two girls are petrified especially Mae Ann but they were all brave.
The picture above is actually the first destination of the activity. Since we are only three in the group,I am not worried for the time that will consume when jumping off the canyons. Because most of the first timers it will take couple of minutes before they are brave enough to jump and scream, Lol!
This is the 1st spot where we had our 1st jump off that is 10 ft high. Yes, it is not that high compared to the 1st jump off in Alegria which is 15 ft high. But still it was cool exhilirating adventure!
In the picture above is another spot where we had to pass under the gorge. The water below is very clear and turquoise but we did not swim off in that area becuase there is another nice spot awaits next to it.
After we took pictures in the are where there’s a lot of rock scrambling and hikes. Our guide opted us to try the next spot where we had to slide in the surface individually that’s about over 8 ft high. That was very cool! Then upon reaching the bottom, Millie and I enjoyed the water that is freezing cold.
As we walk along the river there are many places where you can take a dip and enjoy the water.
Who else would not want a group picture with this enticing location is already fronting possibly on you. This spot is also good for taking a profile picture or cover photos on your Facebook because of the magnificent rock formation.
During my first Canyoneering, I can remember that this spot is one of my favorites. This canyon is called an optional last jump off that is 30 ft high as the guide say. I remember I jumped here like 4 to 5 times. Brave enough, right?hahaha!
And We Are On Our Way To Badian Falls!
As we continued our journey until the Kawasan Falls Badian. That is the spot for last jump scene but gets optional for gutless individual, Lol! But I am still featless and tried to jump! Yay! (Try to see it in the video attached).
What time did we arrive Kawasan Falls? We actually reached Kawasan Falls at around 4:00PM. Another spot where we embrace the peaceful mother earth and enjoy the three level of waterfalls.
How long does it take to finish Canyoning Activity? It took us about total of 5 hours to finish the entire activity from Kawasan first jump off to Kawasan, Badian warterfalls. After cooling down in Kawasan Falls we arrived 4:30 PM at the Kawasan Canyoneering Headquarters that is nearby the high-way road. We had our food adventure that is already included for the 1,500 PHP package for the entire activity. After fixing our stuffs we headed back to Cebu City via Ceres Bus Liner at past 5:00 PM already.
Canyoneering was a long but worthy adventure to try. It was unique and fun activity. I enjoyed it as well as the company. And with all the challenges that we experienced, fun moments that we had and excitement that we felt during the extreme activity, no doubt that canyoneering topped my best adventure to experience when in Cebu.
